A commission plan should motivate performance without becoming impossible for staff or management to verify.
Define what earns commission
Specify whether commission is based on services, product sales, both, or another agreed measure. State how discounts, refunds, corrections and shared services are treated.
Make attribution consistent
A commission report is only as reliable as the staff attribution on the underlying sale. Train cashiers and reception staff to select the correct employee instead of fixing attribution at month-end.
Keep the formula simple enough to explain
If staff cannot independently understand how their commission is calculated, disputes become more likely. Complexity should exist only where it solves a real business problem.
Review before paying
Use the commission period report as a review tool, then investigate unusual amounts before payment. Keep the salon's written commission policy aligned with the system setup.
