A short weekly review can reveal problems early without turning the owner into a full-time analyst.
Sales
Review total sales and compare them with a sensible previous period. Then look at whether the change came from more customers, higher-value services, product sales or price changes.
Expenses
Check recorded expenses for unusual increases. A strong sales week can still produce poor cash results if operating costs rise at the same time.
Bookings and completed work
Look at the appointment pipeline, completion status and any repeated gaps in the calendar. Booking volume and completed revenue are related but not identical.
Staff commissions
Review commission before payroll or payout deadlines. Unexpected changes can reveal attribution errors or a shift in which services are selling.
Inventory
Check low stock, unusual adjustments and fast-moving products. Stock problems often become expensive when they are only reviewed at month-end.
